We had learnt about the elements of music:
1) dynamics:music has a either loud or soft sound.
2) tempo: the speed of the music.
3) texture: way in which the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic materials are combined in a composition.
4) pitch:music has either a high or low sound.
5) instrumentation: using instruments in order to play or create a song.
we also learned about drones: a long held note, pedal note: a short held note, arpeggios: broken chords, minor chords: 4 semitones then 5 semitones, major chords: 5 semitones then 4 semitones.
we also had to create our own romantic music using all these key terms.
Marc,
ReplyDeleteYour group have demonstrated some knowledge and understanding of how to effectively control musical elements; you have variations in tempo, pitch, dynamics and texture and a good selection of musical sounds. Your work is coherent and has a good structure. All sounds are balanced very well, and don't worry about recording quality. The music was well timed with the film scene. A lot of effort has gone into rehearsing this piece with evidence not only in your reflection but from our class observations that you consistently thought of ways to improve the piece.
I feel that your skills on the in music are progressing a little but you should really push yourself further. Your contributions were helpful but you could have developed amore complex part for yourself, perhaps considered another instrument…
Your reflections are very limited and you’re missing the last one (the most important one). You show a little understanding.
If you were to do a project like this again, I would recommend thinking about how to include sound effects (technology is OK!) and possibly spoken word. You should also look carefully at developing some keyboard skills.
